Representative Meagan Hanson Delivers Real Results in the 2018 Legislative Session

Rep. Hanson brings a voice to the table for House District 80.

Brookhaven, GA – After the most recent legislative session, Representative Meagan Hanson reflected on the real results that were delivered to the people of House District 80.

I promised to bring a voice to the table for our district, and in the past two legislative sessions, that’s exactly what I’ve done. We’ve passed real reforms that are going to make commutes easier, keep more money in people’s pockets, and make education better for children across Georgia.”

Just a few of the Real Resultschampioned by Meagan in the 2018 Legislative Session, now Georgia law.

Meagan was a lead sponsor for Game Changing Transit Reform.

House Bill 930 will unite multiple transit systems into one efficient and improved authority under the umbrella of the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL). We have already seen progress from HB 930 with Governor Deal announcing unprecedented state funding in the amount of $100million for the construction of Bus Rapid Transit Lanes that will cut back on traffic on 400.

Meagan sponsored A Better Brunch Bill.

Senate Bill 17, which was signed into law in May, allows local municipalities to hold a vote on serving alcohol at 11 AM on Sundays. This small rollback is projected to generate $100 million in revenue for Georgia businesses and is on local ballots across the state this fall.

Meagan sponsored legislation to Make County Governments Work for the People.

DeKalb County’s governance structure is the only one of its kind in Georgia, and it seems there are a number of inefficiencies and deficiencies associated with the elected CEO form of government. This bipartisan legislation created a committee to study the best forms of county governance, ensuring the government works for people, not the other way around.

Meagan worked to pass a Balanced Budget that…

  • Sets unprecedented levels of funding for K-12 Education.
  • Cuts the Georgia state income tax for the first time since 1937.
  • Includes $1.83B to improve our roads and bridges.

“I’m proud of the results we’ve delivered so far, but there is more to be done. I’m excited to continue my hard work for our community.”
